“Living History: Revolution on the Hudson"
History, Culture, Literature, Art and Geography of the Hudson River during the American Revolution

Saturday (8:00 AM – 7:00 PM) – October 1st, 2022 (Siter visitation to Fort Montgomery and attendance at reenactment of the battle

New Jersey played a crucial role in the American Revolution. Positioned between the new nation’s capital in Philadelphia and the British stronghold in New York, no place in New Jersey was spared the ravages of war.

In his 84 years, Thomas Edison acquired a record number of 1,093 patents (singly or jointly) and was the driving force behind such innovations as the phonograph, the incandescent light bulb and one of the earliest motion picture cameras.

“Living History: Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware River Reexamined"
Practically everyone has seen the image of Washington standing proudly on a boat crossing the icy Delaware River in 1776. This image is one of the most heroic images of the American Revolution. Is this an accurate portrayal of that incredible event? This course will examine the historic circumstances leading up to this pivotal moment in American history as well as the historical accuracy of story of the “crossing” itself.
